New Unit

Hey all,
Our next unit is "Planetary Systems". It is my favorite and opens up great discussions in class. There are a lot of things we have discovered and many questions still unanswered. Check out the sites to the right to get you started. They offer many answers and will be used frequently in class. You can also download "Celestia", the program i use in class. Just google it and follow download instructions, its free!

No need to wrry just yet. the planet stuff is coming up later. Main thing is you are looking at it and absorbing something...anything.

I don't know much about atronomy or anything but I'm gonna try to pay attention in class. Anything I should look out for?

Oh & how can the moon always be half lit if it's almost always in our shadow?

I'm going to download Celestia!

Mr. Crandell, if we're absorbing, then we're just basically "vomiting" back what you say. And I'm sire you're trying to avoid that. Maybe the term you're looking for was "process". But, hey, I'm not the teacher.

the moon isn't always in the earth's shadow. the pictures make it look like that. it is normally somewhere above or below the earth.

also, the moon isnt half lit because of our shadow. it is always half lit, except during a lunar eclipse. it appears to be half lit because the position of how we see it changes. its like looking at something out of the corner of your eye.
