Hey Guys,
I've added some new sites for you to check out.
First, the station model sites. One site explains what the symbols mean (note wind is in knots not mph) The other lets you see the current station models throughout any part of the country.
Next, if you go to the USA Today site you can learn a ton. Under the tap Interactive graphics, there are many tutorials for you to get a better understanding of the weather.
Lastly, please ask me questions. This can be confusing and the best way to clear up your questions is to ask (whether in class or on the blog).

Hey Mr.Crandell, I was just wandering, if you can only see stars at night, can they still be out durning the day? If they are then are they always out during the day?
Great Question Maddie!
Yes they are. the problem is that the Sun is out too. The Sun is just to close and too bright to allow you to see anything else. If we were able to turn the Sun off for a few minutes, you'd see all the stars!
Mr. Crandell, I feel the air and it is warm but the ground is really cold or slightly cold why is this? I thought that the Earth's core is extremely hot!

Madison,
The core is extremely hot..you are right. The earth's crust is very very thick, so the heat from Earth does not do much to the surface. That is due to the Sun. Remember, land heats up and cools down quickly. If you felt the warm air, it could be because the wind was coming out of the south. What time of day was this? Was it morning or evening?
This question has been bugging me since this morning in homeroom... When fog occurs, if you ever have walked through it before, you would have felt mist and gotten a litle wet. I was wondering; is the little speckles of water all of the dust and dirt and water, is it just water, what is it?
Each droplet has something in it (condensation nuclei). It could be dust, smoke, dirt..hard to say. So yes, there is something tiny in each droplet. When it hits your face you feel the water. If the water were to dry and not slide off your face, whatever is in the drop would be on you. Cool huh? (Or maybe gross)
today was 95% humidity... why does my hair frizz insainly but my sisters doesnt??? isit genes or is it just he way my hair reacts to higher humidity?
It has to do with your hair thickness, the products you put in your hair, the length, etc... Many reasons.
mr crandell i noticed that when i took a shower the mirror foged up... what is the source of this? is it just a cloud sticking to the mirror, because i remember you said that a cloud or the particles in the cloud HAVE to be sticking to something!!!
When you shower, water evaporates into the air (heat was added). As the water vapor randomly moves around your bathroom, the particles that touch the mirror lose this energy/heat. When gases lose enrgy, they turn back into liquids. So warm water vapor (gas) touches a cool mirror and you see fog (liquid). To condense, the water vapor had to cling to something in the air. So each little droplet has a tiny little spec of dust inside it. Crazy, huh?
